Guide details

Before you begin

Collect glowing Nightstar Sand directly from the ground across Feybreak and expanded desert areas, then avoid the two common mistakes: mining it and treating it as a brand-new 1.0 item.

Current Nightstar Sand collection areas, its ground-pickup interaction, the reliable night-search method, the 1.0 expansion beyond Feybreak, and the current tools, weapons, belts, and movement equipment that use the material.

Check note
Sources agree that Nightstar Sand is a ground pickup and glows at night. They differ on daytime visibility, so this guide recommends night without claiming the material is impossible to collect by day.

Before you set out

Prerequisites#

  • Use a route with access to Feybreak or the current main-map desert areas added to the Nightstar Sand pool.
  • Travel at night when the ground glow is easiest to distinguish from ordinary sand and rock.
  • Keep inventory space for pickups; no pickaxe or Mining Pal is required for the collection action.

Survey 02

Where Nightstar Sand appears#

Use broad open ground and the night glow to build a repeatable sweep instead of checking one old marker forever.

  1. Feybreak coasts and wasteland#

Sweep open coastal and barren ground across Feybreak after dark.

Feybreak is the material's original region, so these routes remain useful after the 1.0 map expansion.
  2. Main-map desert and PIDF Tower region#

Check open desert ground around the PIDF Tower region in the current 1.0 world.

These are expanded 1.0 collection areas, not evidence that the material first appeared in 1.0.
  3. Paladius and Necromus area#

Add the surrounding desert ground to the same night sweep when travelling through the boss region.

Look for the pickup glow on the ground and use the interact prompt when it appears.

Route 03

Run a clean Nightstar Sand sweep#

The search is a visibility problem, not a mining problem.

  1. Start after nightfall#

Move into one of the listed regions after dark so the material's glow stands out against the ground.

  2. Scan open ground, not ore nodes#

Sweep coast, wasteland, or desert surfaces and watch for individual glowing pickups rather than striking rock formations.

  3. Use the interact prompt#

Approach the glowing object and collect it directly. A pickaxe and Mining Pal do not improve this pickup action.

  4. Move to another open patch#

Continue the regional sweep instead of waiting on one spot. This guide does not assume an exact respawn timer that the official notes do not provide.

Loadout 04

What Nightstar Sand is used for#

Margin corrections

Two Nightstar Sand mistakes to avoid#

  • Bringing mining tools for a ground pickup

Nightstar Sand is collected directly. Treating it like an ore node slows the route and can make the real glow easier to miss.

  • Calling it a material introduced in 1.0

Nightstar Sand already existed in Feybreak. Palworld 1.0 expanded the places where it can be found, including main-map desert routes.

Fault ledger

If Nightstar Sand is hard to find#

Nothing stands out during a daytime sweep
Return after nightfall and repeat the same open-ground route. Night is the reliable visibility window, without assuming daytime collection is impossible.
Mining the area produces no Nightstar Sand
Stop targeting ore and rocks. Look for a glowing loose pickup and collect it with the interact prompt.
An old guide only lists Feybreak
Keep the Feybreak route, then add the current 1.0 main-map desert, PIDF Tower, and Paladius/Necromus areas.

Field questions
